The Titanium Standard

After a lemon ice, the neighbors headed down Main Street to check out the action.  We were drawn to the exclusivity of a velvet rope and a bouncer in front of new nightclub Titanium, and we were told that everyone was welcome.

Early Saturday evening, the club thumped with dance music, but the dancefloor was empty.

Those at the door assured us that business had been good right up to the Memorial Day weekend.

BTW, if you're wondering, seven months later, the Hartford Colonials still owe my film and video company, Motion Inc, $23,000.

  1. BYW, I wasn't wondering. Is it really appropriate to comment on your private business dealings in this community blog just because can?

  2. I say, a blog is a blog and you can comment on what you like. If you can scotch-tape up a bounced check on a bulletin board then you should be able to post an announcement up on a blog. But it is a worthy question to ask.

  3. This doesnt look like the upscale night club for an after dinner drink that was presented to P&Z. I hear they have music just like Public did and shot girls and dancers practically naked. Wheres P&Z on this ??

These downtown bars want to turn Main St. into a scene like the bar district in Hartford. Please don't let that happen. Motorcycle Mania is bad enough.

  4. Dear Ed,

Don't think of it as $23,000 of bad debt - just think of it as a very expensive t-shirt.

You should fit right in on the nightclub circuit!

  5. Planning and Zoning is not taste review- it is zoning and design review- and so far its perfectly legal to have bars in Middletown. If you would like more puritanical zoning laws write some and suggest them!

  6. I do have to agree, a court room would be a better forum. A time and place for everything and I don't think this is it. Very disappointed in the eye (Ed) on this one.
