Both Mayor Sebastian Giuliano and Superintendent of Schools Michael Frechette expressed optimism that an agreement reached in mediation with Superior Court Judge Robert Holzberg brings clarity to the roles the city and the BOE play in governance.
"It creates a bright line about duties and responsibilities," Giuliano said. "Judge Holzberg is going to stay involved to make sure if there are disputes that they are settled according to the terms of the agreement."
"I'm pleased with the settlement," Frechette said after the BOE meeting Tuesday. "I think it identifies roles and responsibilities. It's good for the city. It's good for the Board of Education. It good for the staff and for the kids."
Can we stop now?
ReplyDeleteOK Ed. Now find out what the legal fees were to reach this settlement that says nothing more than the parties shall respect each other and stop acting like children. I bet the legal fees exceeded $100,000 !!!
ReplyDeleteEd,
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to pages 2 & 3?
Sorry, posted quickly. Pages 2 and 3 are now up.
ReplyDeleteAre there 2 page 8's?
ReplyDeleteWill Judge Holzberg be issuing hall passes too? When does this monitoring period cease? Only then will we know the attorney's cost.
This will all be great if the BOE recognizes labor law and contracts. One can only hope that relationships with the MMPA and 466employees will be better.
ReplyDeleteLike a Johnny Cash song the mayor was wrong, wrong, wrong!!
ReplyDeleteThe mayor needs to be monitored because he put cops for two weeks around the clock in the Supt. office, stole chips from the school's computers, fires 8 people for nothing etc etc etc etc He has finally been put in his place...
ReplyDeleteIts the thrillah in Manila""its the 3rd match up between Mikey"Ali" Frechette and Mayor"Liston" Guialiano..There is a gash immediately over the mayor's eye. Some say he a little slow..Ooh he is on the canvass. The ref[judge} says neither fighter can crow after his decision. The Mayor claimed like a silly neophyte that the city charter trumped State law..The mayor will try to spin this as a win...He cost the city big bucks with his antics...But he still ended up on the ropes...
ReplyDeleteSorry "Who Killed",but that fight was between Ali and Frazier-not Liston.
ReplyDeleteTo Upset Citizen Cane- the mayor's "useless" waste of time and energy finally stopped the Frechette from spending YOUR money at 10k a clip between funds with out accountability! Don't you see the connection and the whole story at all? That was the point of the audit etc and the stationing of officers. sheesh!
