On December 3, 2010 at approximately 5:54 P.M., a motor vehicle collision occurred on Route 9 South and Hartford Avenue.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Toyota Camry, operated by, Ms. Fatemeh Amiri, age: 49, of Waterbury, was traveling in a southerly direction on Route 9 South in the right side travel lane. A 2006 Mercury Mountaineer, operated by, Ms. Tanya Ortiz, age: 33, of Middletown, was traveling in an easterly direction on Hartford Avenue approaching the intersection of Route 9 South. A 1992 Ford Thunderbird, operated by, Mr. Jose Cruz, age: 46, of Wethersfield, was traveling in an easterly direction on Hartford Avenue approaching the intersection of Route 9 South.
The Toyota attempted to travel through the intersection and struck the left front of the Mercury. Subsequently, the Mercury made contact with the left side of the Ford.
Two occupants of the Toyota were transported to Hartford Hospital, and are listed in stable condition. The driver and two juvenile passengers in the Mercury were transported to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and were subsequently released. The operator of the Ford reported no injuries.

Everyone says,"she attempted to travel through the intersection". In other words she ran the light.

Attempted to travel? Did she run the red light and never attempted to stop?
