Olivia Haouchine took the summertime reading challenge seriously, and was recognized for her effort at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting by Superintendent of Schools Michael Frechette.Frechette noted that Haouchine read for more than 16,000 minutes (264 hours) over the summer, and presented her with a plaque to commemorate her achiement.
Frechette and the Board also recognized Snow School gifted and talented administrator and Snow School Principal Jim Gaudrea who was presented the Connecticut Association for the Gifted, Administrator of the Year award.
Good for you, Olivia! And Principal Jim G. is awesome, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's great and congratulations to Olivia. However, all students, my son included, who won the award were invited to a ceremony that was cancelled due to the fire at the Middle School. We were told the ceremony would be rescheduled. Instead the award came in the mail. We understand the circumstances but the kids were disappointed they didn't get the public recognition they deserved.
