Middletown Lifeguard Honored By Governor

Krysta Holmes, a lifeguard at Wadsworth Falls State Park was honored in a proclamation by Governor Jodi Rell after assisting a boy who was swimming at the local pond.  The boy swam out to the back buoy, but on his return appeared to be in trouble.  Holmes ran into the water and swam to the boy, assisting him back to shore where he was reunited with his father.

Holmes' commendation is as follows:

On behalf of the State of Connecticut,
I, M. JODI RELL, Governor,
take great pleasure in
congratulating
Krysta Holmes
Lifeguard
from Wadsworth Falls State Park in
Middletown, Connecticut.

I commend you for demonstrating

valor, incisive judgment and calm composure while
performing lifesaving duties at a Connecticut State Park.
You have displayed exceptional strength and courage
and are deserving of our recognition, especially at
the Department of Environmental Protection
recognition ceremony on July 15, 2010.

I am pleased to thank you for your
assistance to Connecticut’s citizens. You are a
fine representative of the State of Connecticut and it
is an honor to join with your family, friends and
colleagues in recognizing your brave actions.

Therefore, I, M. JODI RELL, Governor of the State of Connecticut,
in recognition of your heroic efforts, do hereby officially
convey honor and recognition upon
