From the Middletown Police Department
In expectation of lower temperatures and a drop in the overall heat index, Mayor Sebastian Giuliano has ordered Middletown’s cooling center to close this evening at 6 P.M. The State of Connecticut Emergency Operations Center has reported that temperatures today may reach 90 F and it is expected that this will be the last day of the heat wave for the region. Cooler and wetter weather if forecasted through the weekend with the possibility of 1-2 inches of rain that should be helpful in alleviating the dry conditions.
In addition to the closing of the cooling center, the use of fire hydrant sprinklers will also cease this afternoon.
