Nocera Honored By Common Council

Dr. Gene Nocera was honored by the Common Council Monday for his years of service in education in Middletown.

Nocera is retiring from his position as principal of Woodrow Wilson Middle School but has served as principal at Macdonough, Bielfield and Snow Elementary Schools.

Nocera's proclamation was read by Wilson Middle School Student Olive Kuhn, one of several students shadowing the Common Council for their meeting on Monday.  Kuhn was particularly effective in her reading of the proclamation, and was invited by Mayor Sebastian Giuliano to return to every Common Council meeting to read proclamations.

If the students learned anything the meeting Monday, it's that the city Showmobile is the most crucial topic discussed during these meetings, but more on that in a later post.
