Susan Bysiewicz quite forcefully said she had no intention of running for Mayor of Middletown, "I endorse Dan Drew." Bysiewicz is the Secretary of the State and former candidate for Governor and Attorney General, Drew was the Democratic nominee for Mayor in 2009, losing to incumbent Seb Giuliano. Shortly after hearing Bysiewicz' endorsement, Drew said "I am strongly considering [another run for Mayor]," in 2011.
Bysiewicz and Drew, along with other Democratic Party leaders from Middletown and other communities in the area, were at a reception at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford, to thank supporters of her recent campaigns for Governor and Attorney General.
Bysiewicz was responding to a story in The Eye which reported that one of many options which she 'had not ruled out' was running for Mayor of Middletown. When she spied this Eye reporter at Monday's function, she immediately announced her endorsement of Drew. With a mixture of bemusement and irritation, each said the Eye article caused them to receive a flood of messages asking about the possibility of a Mayor Bysiewicz.

Disclosure: I was invited to the function as a past supporter of the Bysiewicz gubernatorial campaign.
How about dog catcher?
ReplyDeleteGood luck Mr. Drew! You are what this city truly needs! A mayor who will provide sensitive, bold and effective leadership rather than the self serving efforts of Guliano who seem to provide for and protect only his friend and cronies. It is just a shame that we have to wait until the next elections to be relieved of his incompetent stewardship, not leadership. He is simply holding your position in the ready Mayor Drew!
ReplyDeleteYeah right, the city need's another puppet for Tom Serra strings. Seb dose a great job. The Dem's just want to disagree with everything he say's. Yeah we really need someone in there that the Dem council can really screw up the City
ReplyDeleteMr. Drew already tried for Mayor and didn't win. The results will be the same..
ReplyDeleteNow, aren't all of these comments typical of Guliano supporter! If you do not happen to win on the first go around,(even though you lost by a mere 500 votes), you should quit! Pack up your bags and go home! I guess these people have not heard of the great american, very successful american approach to life's challenges. "IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN!" Mr. Drew's attitude is one that truly represents the dedicated spirit missing in this sad and ineffective administration of Guliano and his cohorts!
ReplyDeleteBe smart Dan...let the dems fend for themselves rather that use you for thier expense. Think about your family.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how all these critics keep giving advice to Dan Drew, as if they're worried about his family's welfare. The race was so close last time, that they want to keep him out in 2011.
ReplyDeleteDan Drew is the rising star of Middletown politics. He works hard, listens to people, and is well on his way to becoming the next Mayor. Unlike the current Mayor, Dan Drew will move the city of Middletown forward. He is just the kind of new ideas and new energy person Middletown needs to become an even better place to live.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think Dan Drew is a good young man and a good person. I don't think he is ready to run Middletown. Not sure why he did not run for another position like common council or some other office. So people could get to know him.
