Amidst dozens of events on campus for alumni/graduation weekend, Wesleyan University celebrated the designation of the Joseph Alsop House as a National Historic Landmark at a reception at the house on High Street Saturday afternoon.
The Alsop House houses Davison Art Center and was built in 1839. It's noted for its Greek-Tuscan Italianate appearance and its interior decorative wall paintings.
The actual designation as a National Historic Landmark was in January 2009.
