Fire above Main Street Restaurant

From a Middletown Police press release:
-------------
On January 10, 2010 at approximately 12:45am Middletown Police officers responded to 200 Main Street, Metro Square on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival officers observed smoke billowing from the roof of the building directly above Enzo’s restaurant.

Middletown Fire responded at which time they made entry into the building and extinguished the fire. An employee of the restaurant was injured as a result of the fire. The party was transported to Middlesex Hospital by Hunters ambulance where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Middletown Police with the assistance of Middletown Fire and the Connecticut State fire marshals office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. At this point the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Middletown police department Detective Division at 860-344-3240.

Update:
At 8:45 on Sunday morning, workers were there to repair the fire control (sprinkler system) and restore electricity. The fire apparently knocked both out for the local strip of businesses, which consists of Puerta Vallarta, H&R Block, and China King. None of the those businesses were otherwise affected by the fire. One of the workers told me that there was extensive damage in Enzo's, but that he expected the electricity and fire control to be restored to the neighboring businesses today.

A Middletown fireman on the scene said that they had spent 6 hours this morning investigating the cause of the fire and that all the information was with the State Fire Marshall.

  1. I would like to add that this employee was not able to get out of the building on his own. He was pulled out of the building by a Middletown firemen. Thank you for all that you do so we can goto sleep at night knowing you'll be there in our time of need. My family and I pray for the employees safe recovery.
