The one and only D J Lord Lewis will be initiating a new regular Thursday night dance party called Soul Explosion at the Fishbone Café’s Boney Lounge. D. J. Lord Lewis has been holding down his show, “The Rumpus Room” at WESU 88.1 since 2002, one of the longest funk and soul radio shows in Connecticut—a one of a kind affair, the Rumpus Room is one of Connecticut’s secret gems and is pure hot sauce excitement. As a vinyl junkie and collector, D.J. Lord Lewis will be playing a wide range of both obscure and classic vintage funk and soul along with many contemporary underground artists and bands continuing this tradition today. The contemporary deep funk & soul scene is international in scope and has been cooking for almost a decade now. While firmly under the radar of the mainstream this scene has been yielding some amazing bands and music in the last 5 years. While Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings may be the biggest name of the lot at this time, there is now a sizable diversity and quantity of bands from all parts of the globe.

This is all to say that D.J. Lord Lewis has been charting this fertile terrain, and will be serving it up for all discerning dancers, music die-hards, and good time nightlife seekers on Thursday nights at Boney’s Lounge right above the Fishbone Café. Come on out for a sure-shot slice of raw heat for your dancing feet. Don’t miss it!!
