Community Block Grant Workshops Planned

From the Middletown Planning, Conservation and Development Department

HOW WOULD YOU SPEND $2 MILLION FOR YOUR COMMUNITY?

Every five years the City of Middletown undertakes an extensive planning process to develop a new plan to direct the use of federal Community Development Block Grant funds. The City expects to receive $2 million spread over five years.

This five-year plan is not intended to just guide how federal funds are spend but seeks to leverage and direct the use of all community resources in the City to address issues of employment, community development, economic development, poverty, housing, access to services and facilities and cleaning up neighborhoods.

Public participation by residents and organizations in Middletown is key to developing a plan that reflects not only the priorities of the community, but acts as a guide for all resources to tackle the big issues facing our City.

In the next few months, we ask that you help us by either filling out a survey, if one is mailed to your residence, or attend a workshop to learn about the issues facing Middletown and contribute solutions to be included in the Plan.

Workshop Dates
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 5pm in Room 208 of City Hall
Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 5pm in Room 208 of City Hall

The Committee expects to have a draft plan for review by the public by December 2009 and present the plan the Common Council in March 2010.
