Duck Race Raffle Benefits Middletown Ag Students

Tickets for the 3rd annual Mattabeset FFA Rubber Duck Race raffle are now
available for sale. Proceeds from the event support agricultural student leadership opportunities at the Middletown Regional Agricultural Science and Technology Center at Middletown High School.

Participants are invited to “adopt” a rubber racing duck for $5.00; the ducks will be released into Laurel Brook in Wadsworth State Park in Middletown, where they will race to the finish line on October 13th at 10 a.m. Prizes include a $250 cash award for the first place duck, with more than $500 in prizes awarded overall. Participants do not have to be present to win. All rubber ducks will be collected at the conclusion of the event.

Ducks are available to purchase through October 12, 2012. The center is located at Middletown High School, 200 LaRosa Lane, and is staffed during school hours.

Proceeds from the duck race will support the Mattabeset FFA Chapter, the youth leadership organization associated with the Middletown Agriculture Science and Technology program based at Middletown High School. The Middletown Regional Agriculture Science & Technology Program is available to high school students from Chester, Clinton, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, East Hampton, Essex, Guilford, Haddam, Killingworth, Madison, Middlefield, Middletown, Portland, Rocky Hill, Old Saybrook and Westbrook. The National FFA Organization is the nation’s leading agricultural youth leadership organization with over 7,000 FFA chapters in the United States, serving 540,379 FFA members.
