Gilead Community Services held its annual Quizine for a Cause fundraiser.
The event, which begins with twenty dinners hosted at homes and restaurants around the city, culminates in a gathering at Wesleyan's Beckham Hall for an array of sumptuous desserts, a live auction, teacup raffle and trivia competition.

I began the evening at the New England Emporium at the Main Street Market in a dinner hosted by the restaurant and by Michael Stone. A delicious dinner of kale salad, braised beef short rib, chicken cutlet, shaved brussel sprouts and pureed parsnip left little room for dessert. Still I bravely sampled carrot cake, margarita pie, bread pudding and lemon bars. This year there was an innovative gluten-free dessert table for those with dietary restrictions.
The evening included testimonials by individuals affected by Gilead's services, and the auction began with a fiercely competitive bidding war for a week's stay at vacation home in North Carolina.

Gilead Community Services provides a wide range of mental health services to help individuals live independently in the community. The Quizine for a Cause Fundraiser is the main annual fundraiser for the organization.
