Missing Teen

From the Middletown Police
-------------
On 08/11/2011 at approximately 07:00 hours, Nathan Carman (Age: 17), left his residence in Middletown to go fishing in Westbrook. Nathan left on his black mountain bike to make this trip which is approximately 30 miles one way.

Nathan has Asbergers Syndrome which is a form of autism. This may make Nathan come off as extremely rude but he is not violent. Nathan will use passive resistance instead and will more likely go limp. If anyone comes across Nathan it is better just to calmly talk with him but don’t touch him because that will cause him to shut down.

Nathan is a white male, 6' 3" tall, 150 pounds, short light brown hair, brown eyes and no facial hair. Nathan has a scar on his left elbow and his right big toenail was ripped off recently. Nathan was wearing khaki pants, long sleeve button down shirt (unknown color), black backpack with fishing pole sticking out of it, and a silver bike helmet. The black mountain bike had a rack on the back with saddle bags.

Please contact the Middletown Police Department at 860-347-2541 with any information on Nathan’s whereabouts.

I hope Nathan is alright and be able to come back home safely. Some people might not understand his gestures e especially when their unaware of his condition.

Where is the Amber Alert?

Actually there is a special silver alert for the elderly or mentally challenged/special needs persons- that was enacted this past spring- why was that not issued??

Perhaps someone could get the spelling of this young man's condition correct?

Seconded, Fishmuscle -- it's Asperger's. Thanks for posting.

Is it appropriate for the guardian of a minor with Aspergers to allow them to ride their bike 30 miles away?

ANON 10:30am: I'd say that's the call of the guardian.
